MILTON-FREEWATER – The Milton-Freewater Police Department arrested a man Thursday for alleged child abuse involving an infant boy.

On January 9, MFPD was notified by the Oregon Department of Human Services of possible child abuse of a 7-month-old infant boy. A MFPD detective followed up on the case and learned the child had multiple fractures and broken bones.

On Wednesday, an indictment was issued against Dakota Brumbach, 26, on felony charges of  first-degree assault, and two counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment. Assault in the first degree is a Measure 11 offense.

Brumbach was taken into custody Thursday and lodged in the Umatilla County Jail.

This story was corrected to reflect that the suspect is not the child’s father, thanks to a correction by MFPD.
