HERMISTON – The Hermiston City Council will discuss branding for the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center at its regular meeting at 7 p.m. today. The meeting will also be streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel.
The city engaged a marketing firm to explore whether the center needed to be rebranded as it came under complete control of the city of Hermiston. That brought up the question of whether the facility should be renamed.
The company, Focal Point Marketing, used a targeted online survey with 102 responding as well as 30 interviews and found that 63 percent of those responding favored rebranding. Meanwhile, 51 percent supported renaming EOTEC. At tonight’s meeting, the council can decide to move forward with rebranding, move forward with rebranding and renaming, or order all work on the issue to stop.
Also on the agenda, the council will decide on entering into an intergovernmental agreement with the Oregon Trail Library District for internet technology services. That district serves Morrow County with locations in Heppner, Boardman, and Irrigon.
In addition to attending in person or watching on YouTube, people may join the meeting via Zoom. The ID is 871 1311 2178 and the pass code is 269333.
