WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Board of Commissioners meets today (Monday) at 9 a.m. and will consider a resolution approving an interlocal agreement between the city of Walla Walla and the Walla Walla County Corrections Department for litter pickup on specified areas of U.S. 12, as well as certain agreed-upon special projects. The agreement covers a 24-month period from March 1, 2023, through March 1, 2025.

If approved by the commissioners, WWCCD will perform cleanup and disposal of collected litter on the north side of U.S. 12 from the Airport Road westbound on-ramp to the entrance of the city of Walla Walla’s Sudbury landfill; two traffic circles on Myra Road between Old Highway 12 to the U.S. 12 underpass; one traffic circle on Myra Road north of U.S. 12; and both sides of Sudbury Road from Heritage Road north to U.S. 12.

Also on the agenda, the commissioners will consider approving a proposal from Sheriff Mark Crider to create an administrative sergeant position within the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office. This position would be responsible for coordination of training, accreditation management, and monitoring the sex offender registry program. The office currently has five sergeants on staff. Four oversee the patrol squads and one is a detective sergeant.
