Prairie City to swear in new mayor

PRAIRIE CITY – The City Council of Prairie City will meet this evening, just as they do on the first Wednesday of each month. Mayor Scott Officer is set to be sworn in to duty. In an earlier interview, Officer shared with our newsroom his plans to start off his term:

“Going into this term I just want to take a long, hard look at where everything sits, and see if [there are] any other ways we can reduce cost. We have to be able to do that. Our insurance rates are going through the roof. It’s costing us more and more every year just to keep the doors open.”
