PENDLETON – The Pendleton UAS Range has flown 22,000 operations in 2022, and Range Manager Darryl Abling says 2023 will see more business. During the year, PUR has welcomed several new clients who are leasing hangar space as they work on perfecting their products.

Abling said that the airspace, amenities, and support from the city government are big factors for that success. He also credits private landowners for making a difference.

“They are invaluable,” he said. “A lot of the work that we’re doing at the airport is now moving off the airport and being able to operate on their properties with their support has really helped us.”

Abling predicts the test range will see even more use in the new year. He said the range averages between two to three calls every single week, including two calls this holiday week.
