GRANT COUNTY – The following is a release in its entirety from Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley:
(Press release from Sheriff Todd McKinley)
On Saturday night, December 10th, the Grant County Emergency Communication Center received a call of a missing vehicle in Long Creek during the Timber Truckers Light Parade.
Trooper Stinnett with the Oregon State Police John Day Outpost later located the stolen vehicle in Mt. Vernon on North Mountain Boulevard. Grant County Deputies assisted at the scene. Arrested was Robert Crosby, most recently a resident of Long Creek.
Crosby was transported to the Grant County Jail on charges including DUII.
Deputies remained with the recovered vehicle until the owners arrived from Long Creek to take possession of it.
On Saturday evening, another vehicle was stolen along with a large number of tools and property from a shop east of Prairie City. This theft and burglary were discovered on Sunday morning, the 11th
Grant County Patrol Sergeant Damon Rand investigated the case, and had an APB put out on the missing pickup.
Sunday evening, Malheur County Deputies located the stolen pickup near Brogan. Two individuals of interest ran from the location, and were eventually apprehended. Arrested were Erik Sanchez 29, of Tieton Washington and David Guillen 29, of Wapato Washington.
For the safety of the community and to help prevent thefts, it would be good for property owners to take a look around and secure items of value that may be visible. If it is out of sight, it typically is out of mind. And please, do not leave your keys in your vehicle. Sadly, we no longer live in the day that this was a normal part of our lives, as thieves will take advantage of the opportunity.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office hopes you have a safe and secure holiday season by taking a few of theses steps towards crime prevention.
