VA offers enrolled vets a new toxic exposure screening

JOHN DAY – The Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers and clinics across the country will now offer enrolled Veterans a new toxic exposure screening. These screenings are a key part of the PACT Act, a new law that empowers VA to deliver care and benefits to millions of toxic exposed Veterans and their survivors. Grant County Veteran Services Officer Katee Hoffman was in the KJDY/News102 Newsroom recently and explained more:
“They signed the PACT Act in August, which added more Agent Orange presumptives and included other areas such as Guam and the Thai Air Force bases.
Last year they added Parkinsonism (which, is similar to Parkinson’s), Hyperthyroidism and bladder cancer. This year, they added hypertension.”
The VA stated that the agency will expedite these claims to ensure Veterans with cancer are getting timely access to the care and benefits they need and deserve.
