JOHN DAY, PRAIRIE CITY & HINES, OR – (Press release from the Malheur National Forest)
In observance of the Veterans Day holiday, all Malheur National Forest offices will be closing at 2:30 on Thursday, November 10 and closed Friday, November 11, 2022. Offices will reopen on Monday, November 14, 2022.
Formerly known as Armistice Day to honor the end of World War I, the name was changed in 1954 after the country had been through World War II and the Korean War. Congress officially removed the word Armistice and replaced it with the word Veterans to honor American veterans of all wars.
The Malheur National Forest thanks all who have served in the United States Armed Forces for their service.
