WALLA WALLA – Firefighters were called to the Clinton Street Apartments North, 20 S. Clinton St. Wednesday night to reports of heavy smoke coming from one of the units and that it may be a stove on fire.
When firefighters arrived at 6:31 p.m., they confirmed there was a fire on the second floor of the two-story apartment building. Evacuation of the building was in progress when firefighters arrived.
The fire was extinguished at 6:44 p.m. There were no injuries to occupants or firefighters.
The fire was contained to the apartment of origin and the cause of the fire is listed as accidental.
Damage to the property and contents is estimated at $100,000.
