WALLA WALLA – A trial date has been set for a Walla Walla man accused of robbing GameStop in College Place in February. Erik Clint Isaman, 39, entered a guilty plea last week to first-degree robbery with a firearm and was released from custody pending trial on several conditions, including not contacting any witnesses and staying at his verified address.
According to court documents, Isaman entered the store at 7:39 p.m. on Feb. 15, displayed a pistol, pointed it in the direction of the clerk and demanded all the cash. The clerk gave Isaman $235, then Isaman walked out of the store.
The next day, the College Place Police Department spoke with a detective from the Milton-Freewater Police Department as there had been several robberies in the past month and the GameStop robbery suspect matched the suspect in the Milton-Freewater robberies. Isaman was arrested for the robberies in Milton-Freewater.
On Feb. 22, the College Place Police Department spoke to a family member of Isaman who told police that he was the one who robbed the GameStop, even telling police the sweatshirt he was wearing at the time of the robbery had been purchased for him as a Christmas present.
In May, police met with the GameStop clerk and asked if he would recognize the pistol that was pulled on him during the February robbery, as it is not a common pistol and has a unique shape. The clerk was shown three photos of the pistol that was recovered from Isaman after his Milton-Freewater arrest. The clerk immediately identified the pistol saying the one in the photos was the same gun used during the GameStop robbery.
Isaman was charged in Walla Walla County on Oct. 4. Robbery in the first degree – armed with a firearm – is a felony with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. His trial is set to begin Jan. 18, 2023.
