KENNEWICK – A Kamaikin High School student was arrested Friday after he allegedly brought an airsoft handgun on campus.
The Kennewick Police Department reports that at 12:43 p.m. Friday, the school resource officer was informed by staff that students saw another student passing around a handgun on campus. The school resource officer immediately notified other officers and placed the school on lockdown.
Multiple officers arrived on campus and were able to located the 15-year-old male who was detained without incident. A black airsoft handgun with no orange tip was located in the student’s waistband. The student did not provide a reason for carrying such an item on school grounds.
The student was placed under arrest for possessing dangerous weapons on school facilities. Staff and family of the student were notified of the incident.
