MILTON-FREEWATER – The city of Milton-Freewater hosts a groundbreaking ceremony at 9:11 this morning (Friday) for the new police and dispatch station, 716 S. Columbia St. behind city hall. City Manager Linda Hall said the 7,600 square foot building, which is funded by a bond and state grant, will house 11 police officers, six emergency dispatchers and a code enforcement officer.

“It will have a modern temporary holding facility, evidence lockers and processing room, training rooms and a meeting room,” Hall added. “It will be much more user friendly for the public and also have a private room for crime victims to give statements to an officer.”

S&K Construction will begin on the $8.4 million building soon. The project is expected to be completed in September 2023.
