LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) The NAIA announced the Women’s Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll on Wednesday morning. The Mountaineers have remained in the Top 25 poll, moving down one spot to No. 22 nationally. The Mounties are 6-1-2 on the season with their lone loss being against No. 1 Keiser University in the first game of the season.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and unaffiliated groups. The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the remainder of the list. The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
The Mounties will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 1 at Community Stadium in La Grande, Ore. Eastern will take on the No. 24 ranked College of Idaho as they battle for the top spot in the CCC.
