Kennewick man killed when his stopped car is struck by semi

KENNEWICK – The Washington State Patrol reports a man died in a traffic collision Monday night involving a semi. It happened on Southbound U.S. 395 at milepost 18 at 6:29 p.m.

Troopers said Kevin J. Hinojosa, 27, of Kennewick was stopped in the roadway after being involved in a prior collision.

Hinojosa’s Honda was struck by the semi, also traveling southbound, driven by Suleiman S. Mohamed, 27, of Mankato, Minnesota. Hinojosa died at the scene; Mohamed was not injured.

Charges are pending against Mohammed. The cause of the fatal collision is under investigation.
