LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) The NAIA announced the first 2022 Women’s Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll on Wednesday morning. Eastern Oregon Women’s Soccer has cracked the Top 25, being ranked No. 22 in the country. The Mounties are 3-1 on the season with their lone loss being against now No. 1 Keiser University.
“We are excited to be back in the top 25. The ladies have worked extremely hard during the off-season to be in this position,” Coach Jacob Plocher said. “There is a lot of work that still needs to be done. We will stay hungry, humble, and keep working on our team goals.”
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and unaffiliated groups. The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the remainder of the list. The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
Eastern Oregon will look to continue their winning ways and improve their ranking as they take on Whitworth University on Friday, Sept. 9. at 4:00 P.M. in Spokane, Wash.
