JOHN DAY – Grand Ole Opry member and country music heavy-hitter Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry will grace the stage at the 113th Grant County Fair on Friday, August 12th. During an episode of KJDY’s Coffee Time, host Logan Bagett mentioned that many folks were excited for the show, and Montgomery shared that sentiment:
“Yeah, it’s a big deal for us, too, man, I’ll tell you what—I love it out there. You know, I’m just an old hillbilly from Kentucky, and it is absolutely beautiful out there.”
Eddie’s brother, John Michael Montgomery, another giant name in country music, performed at the Grant County Fair last year. Eddie mentioned that he and his band The Wild Bunch can tend to get a bit rowdy during their live show:
“Look out, for ol’ John-Boy, man!
You know, our show is probably a little…well…what you see with us is kind of what you get. We kinda like to turn it up and get the party started!”
He mentioned that he and the band are officially sponsored by Jim Beam, just as Montgomery Gentry were. Troy Gentry died in a tragic helicopter crash in September of 2017, and Eddie said that the duo vowed to each other over a bottle of whiskey that if one were to pass, the other would carry on the Montgomery Gentry legacy. The two have won multiple ACM and CMA Awards over the years, including Vocal Duo of the Year.
Tickets are $35 and include entry into the fair on Friday. Log on to grantcountyoregon.net.
