JOSEPH – (Release from the Oregon Department of Forestry) On the Wallowa Mountains Ranger District, 8.6 miles of Wellamotkin Road (Forest Road 46) from State Highway 3 to Gould Gulch will be closed from August 1st through the 10th. Road work includes the repair of a roadway slump and pavement patching at approximately 50 locations.
The week prior to the closure: Flaggers will be present to provide traffic control for work in preparation for the repairs, so please use caution.
After the closure: A chip seal and fog seal will be applied to the roadway to help seal and preserve the pavement. Flaggers and pilot cars will be in operation, please expect delays.
Travelers are advised to plan accordingly when visiting parts of the Forest affected by the road work. For additional information about the temporary closures please call the Wallowa Mountains office at 541-426-5546.
