BAKER CITY – (Release from Baker City Fire Department) Baker City Fire was dispatched to a structure fire at 1036 Baker @ 21:43 hours 7/6/2022. Fire crew arrived finding a working structure fire involving a small outbuilding and covered roof extending to the main house. All occupants had safely exited the home. Initial attack crews requested assistance from Bowen Valley and Haines Rural Fire District but with initial firefighting efforts they were canceled prior to arrival. Fire crews extinguished the roof leading to the home and the outbuilding. Some light damage was noted to the home and the roof section extending to the outbuilding was removed. The outbuilding required the most attention of fire crews but remains intact with damage primarily to property and contests. Fire cause is under investigation. No injuries were reported by civilians of fire personnel following assessment by Metro West Ambulance. Crews were on scene for nearly 2 hours.
