Large drug bust in Baker County leads to arrest of Richland, Washington man

BAKER COUNTY – (From OSP) On June 1, 2022, at approximately 12:48 AM, an Oregon State Police Trooper contacted a vehicle believed to be involved in a crash at the intersection of State Route 7 and Interstate 84 in Baker City. During the investigation it was learned no crash occurred, however, the operator of the vehicle failed to provide a driver’s license and after being detained for Failure to Carry and Present License it was determined the subject had provided false information. Once the subject’s identity was known, Troopers were advised of multiple outstanding out-of-state warrants for his arrest. 

The Baker City Police Department assisted in the investigation and provided a controlled substance detection K9. The K9 alerted to controlled substances and the vehicle was towed from the scene pending a search warrant. The suspect, Darren Yeater, 31 of Richland Washington, was arrested on the warrants and lodged at the Baker County Jail.

The search warrant was approved and served. The following evidence was seized:

Methamphetamine – 1,302.37g

Fentanyl Powder – 40.2g

Fentanyl pills – (approx.)15,962 dosage units

Marijuana – 2.02lbs

Suboxone – 21 dosage units

Cocaine – 21.8g

Unknown substance – 9.3g

.223 Assault Rifle (without a serial number)

.17 rifle

.38 Special

.2283 pistol

.45 pistol

Ammunition and magazines

There was also evidence of identity theft and evidence of manufacturing & distribution of controlled substances. Additional charges are pending.
