COLLEGE PLACE – The College Place City Council meets today (Tuesday) at 5:30 p.m. for a work session and will discuss a co-responder mental health professional grant. According to College Place Police Chief Troy Tomaras and Greater Columbia Behavioral Health Co-Director Sindi Saunders, Walla Walla County has the highest per capita mental health calls for service in the state.
The co-responder grant will provide a mental health professional to assist law enforcement and fire response to community members with mental health issues. CPPD will partner with Greater Columbia Behavioral Health through a federal grant to provide for salary and benefits for two years and covers up to $200,000.
Also on the agenda, Police Chief Troy Tomaras will present the 2021 annual report. Each year, the chief delivers an annual report as well as a bias report for review and analysis. The reports document the previous year’s police activity.
Today’s work session will be held in-person and electronically. The meeting can be viewed on the city’s YouTube channel and via Zoom. The meeting ID number is 853 4163 5063.
