OLYMPIA – The Washington State Department of Ecology seeks public input on its low-carbon energy siting study. The study looks at how to improve environmental review and permitting processes when determining where and how green energy projects can be built in Washington.
In 2020, the Washington Legislature asked the departments of Ecology and Commerce to work together to recommend some ways that the siting of green, low-carbon energy projects across the state can be improved.
The Washington State Department of Ecology said it has been working with industry leaders, state and local governments, and community stakeholders to draft recommendations on how green energy projects can be implemented more efficiently and will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as mandated under state law.
The study will be used to developed recommendations for a report to the Washington Legislature by Dec. 1. To provide input, attend the upcoming online meeting June 16. There will be an informative presentation about the study followed by the opportunity to ask questions and express opinions.
