SALEM – No elections are decided until all the ballots are counted in Oregon and this year as long as a ballot is postmarked May 17 it’s part of the count as long as it’s received by May 24. The certified election results are not scheduled to be issued until June 7. That means close races could change as more ballots are tallied.

In the Democratic primary for governor, Tina Kotek is in the lead with 54.98 percent of the vote. Tobias Read is the closest to her with 32.88 percent.

In the Republican gubernatorial primary, Christine Drazan is leading the pack with 23.79 percent at last report. Bob Tiernan is second with 19.13 percent. Of the rest of the pack, they all are showing 9.75 percent or lower. Kerry McQuisten of Baker has 8.52 percent at last report.

U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden is far and away the leader in the Democratic primary with 89.50 percent of the vote. On the Republican side, Jo Rae Perkins leads with 31.54 percent and Darin Harbick has tallied 29.84 percent.

For Eastern Oregon’s Second Congressional District, incumbent Rep. Cliff Bentz is dominating the field with 76.07 percent on the GOP side. For the Democrats, Joe Yetter is in the lead with 69.95 percent.
