UNION COUNTY – Union County Sheriff’s Office has recently received calls from citizens reporting that they have received voicemails claiming to be from Deputy Hamilton with the Sheriff’s Office.

According to information released by the Union County Sheriff’s Office, “the callback number given is NOT the phone number for the Sheriff’s Office. While we do have a Deputy Hamilton, he is not randomly calling people leaving cryptic messages requesting that you call him back. This is a scam, you should not call the number back!! If you do speak to them and they tell you that missed jury duty, or that there is a warrant for your arrest hang up immediately! We will NEVER call you and tell you something like that. Nor would we ever ask you to pay us in iTunes cards, gift cards or have you send money via Western Union. Please be vigilant and don’t fall for these scams!!”
