WALLOWA COUNTY – A yearling male Chesnimnus Pack wolf was lethally removed on the morning of May 3, 2022 under a kill permit issued by ODFW to a livestock producer that was experiencing chronic depredation. ย Per the terms of the permit, the wolf was shot in the pasture where three calves were killed by Chesnimnus Pack wolves last week. ย
Additional livestock owned by the same livestock producer were confirmed as injured in another public-land pasture and the permit had already been amended to allow removal in that pasture. The permit allows for one more wolf to be taken to reduce depredation.
