The Wallowa Valley Youth Arts Festival is coming

JOSEPH – The Wallowa Valley Youth Arts Festival is coming to the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture next month.  Information on this show, which was first initiated in 1989 can be found below.

“Youth, K-6, are invited to show one piece of artwork. Youth, 7-12, are invited to show two piece of artwork in this annual exhibit.

This exciting annual event features a wonderful display of artwork, lots of awards ribbons, hands-on activities, and musical performances by area youths. The show was first initiated in 1989 by local photographer Doris Woempner, and has been chaired over the years by several tireless youth-art supporters including- Joan Madsen and, from 2009 to 2015, Leah Johnson and Will Roundy. For many years, Maria Weer who lives in Lostine and works for Building Healthy Families has led the show. The Wallowa Valley Arts Council proudly sponsors the Youth Arts Festival each year and applauds the many volunteers who work so hard to bring us this fun-filled extravaganza.

Matting supplies and ideas: DIY option- Central Copy in Enterprise has poster board for matting and Michael, the owner, offered free cutting to all youth art students. He also has foamboard backing for sale but you must cut this to size yourself.  OR Let the pros do it- Missy’s Uptown Art and Aspen Grove Gallery both do fantastic jobs professionally matting artwork. No frame is required. We ask that there is a firm back to the artwork for hanging purposes.  If you have any questions don’t hesitate to email or call Dawn at programs@josephy.or or (541) 432-0505.

Artwork can be delivered to the Josephy Center at 10am-5pm from May 9th-11th, 2022.Web Address:https://josephy.org/wallowa-valley-youth-arts-festival for more information and to print entry forms.”
