Do your part to stop child abuse, learn more about mandatory reporting

BAKER CITY – Do you know what it means to be a mandatory reporter?  Do you who are mandatory reporters?  Firefighters, Law Enforcement, Nurses, and teachers are just a small sample of occupations that are required by law to report confirmed or suspected child abuse.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a month dedicated to awareness and recognition of the importance of families and communities to work together to prevent child abuse and neglect.

Throughout the region, many communities are displaying blue pinwheels as a visual representation of this month.

Baker City Fire and Rescue reminds their community that their team receives special training to recognize abuse to allow them to better access situations when needed.

Children are not the only victims of abuse, and while April is dedicated to Child Abuse Prevention, elderly and domestic victims are also at risk for violence and neglect.
