PENDLETON – Traffic on South Main Street will be impacted beginning Monday as crews install a new water main in the 100 block. Public Works Director Bob Patterson said that the project will mean the closure of the northbound lanes to vehicles.
Workers will make every attempt to keep the sidewalk along the east side of South Main open during the construction, but Patterson said the pedestrian ramp across South Main Street will need to be closed at times. There will be no parking along the east side of the block, and there will be one day when that block is closed entirely for service line installation.
The work is expected to be done by April 27, but it’s only the beginning of road work in that area.
“We are prepping for a major reconstruction project of Southeast Byers,” Patterson said. “It will start at mid-block between Main and Southwest First all the way east to Southeast Seventh.” That project will begin in May.
