WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Board of Commissioners meets today (Monday) at 11 a.m. Commissioners will consider a resolution awarding a bid for the rodeo viewing platform project at the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds.

Three bids were submitted with Richland-based Fowler General Construction submitting the lowest bid at just over $1.8 million.

The viewing platforms will be constructed at an elevated height above the rodeo arena bucking chutes and timed-event chutes. Approximately 50 boxes would be created on the platforms with each box capable of accommodating 14 to 16 people. Construction is expected to begin this spring with completion done prior to this year’s Walla Walla Fair and Frontier Days happening Aug. 31 – Sept. 4.

Also on the agenda, commissioners will consider a request from the city of College Place for reimbursable work for chip sealing. The work on seven streets in College Place will cover just over nine-tenths of a mile for a total of 179,532 square feet and will be performed by the Walla Walla County Road Department.
