MILTON-FREEWATER – The Milton-Freewater City Council meets tonight at 7 p.m. and will consider purchasing heat pumps for the Joe Humbert Family Aquatic Center from Mill Creek Mechanical for $88,545.97.
City Manager Linda Hall says if the approves the purchase, the city will transfer $52,169 of federal American Rescue Plan Act funding to the aquatic center budget for a down payment on the pool heaters. The remainder of the cost would be paid for after the heaters arrive in the next budget year which begins July 1.
Hall said the city previously spent about $28,000 to purchase covers for the pool with the hope that would make a difference in the pool’s water temperature, but some residents were not satisfied with waiting to see if the covers would make a difference.
Tonight’s meeting will be in the Albee Room of the Milton-Freewater Public Library, 8 SW Eighth Ave.
