WALLA WALLA – A man arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of breaking into a family member’s home and resisting arrest which left two police officers with minor injuries is scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday. Angelo Eric Barrera, 29, allegedly broke into his mother’s house on the 100 block of West Morton Street at about 9:14 a.m. Wednesday.
Once inside the house, Barrera began throwing things out of the house and damaging items. His mother told police that Barrera was not allowed at the home as that he had been staying at a local hotel for the past two months.
When officers arrived, Barrera ran from the home until an officer tackled him on the ground about a block away. Once on the ground, Barrera continued to resist arrest, causing one officer to sustain a minor injury to his nose and forearm, and another to sustain a minor injury to his hand. Officers struggled with Barrera for about a minute before they were able to place handcuffs on him.
Barrera was booked into the Walla Walla County Jail for residential burglary, third-degree malicious mischief, obstructing a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
