Work is underway between Meacham and Spring Creek along I-84

MEACHAM– (Information from ODOT) Work has begun on I-84 between Meacham and Spring Creek, between mileposts 241 and 248.5. This is the second season of a two-year project. Crews will begin by replacing the eastbound slow lane with new concrete and the eastbound fast lane with new asphalt. We will be tying on to where we left off last fall and taking it all the way to the Spring Creek Interchange.

Starting the week of April 11, travelers can expect one lane of travel in each direction. We will start by moving eastbound traffic to the westbound side. An exception to one lane in each direction will be between milepost 248 and 246 where there are currently three westbound lanes on the steep grade. In this section, we will place two westbound lanes to allow for passing of slow moving vehicles and one lane eastbound.

The posted speed limit will be reduced to 50 mph through the work zone where eastbound and westbound traffic will be separated by candlestick cones adhered to the pavement. Slow down and plan extra time when travelling through the project. We expect work on the eastbound side to be completed in July. Single lane in each direction opposing traffic will then be routed to the eastbound lanes and work will begin on the westbound side. The entire project is scheduled for completion by November 1, 2022.
