WALLA WALLA – Walla Walla Public Schools will receive a state digital equity and inclusion technology grant to continue enhancing its 1:1 device program, bolster staff support and expand existing tech infrastructure. The grant, estimated at about $1 million, will also provide adaptive technology such as equipment and technology services for students with special needs and English language learners.
The funds will be used for 500 Chromebooks and headsets to support the district’s 1:1 student device initiative; 450 C-Pen Reader Pens to enhance English language learners and special education assessment and learning; and 150 classroom audio amplification systems.
It will also allow for one full-time equivalent technology instructional coach dedicated to developing a framework of integrating technology into curriculum; and analytics support to enhance data collection, plus access to improve teacher efficacy and student learning.
The district said this state-funded grant is driven by House Bill 1365 and helps supports students and families, especially those in more rural and remote settings like Walla Walla.
