Grant received for Helix window project

HELIX – The Roundhouse Foundation is giving the Helix Advancement Partnership Network a $20,000 grant to help fund replacing 73 windows in the old Helix Grade School. That building now houses city hall, the library, and the historical museum.

The entire window-replacement project is estimated at $166,005. Of that, more than $92,000 has been raised.

HAPN took over the future of the building in 2004. In that time, it has repaired and replaced the roof, installed new sidewalks, and upgraded the furnace. In addition, it helped with restoration following the flash flood in 2012. The building has also passed an asbestos inspection, seen the installation of a handicapped-access chair lift, gotten upgrades to the electrical and HVAC systems, and had the library and children’s room renovated.

The Roundhouse Foundation’s mission is to support creative solutions to challenges associated with rural culture and landscapes in the Pacific Northwest. HAPN is a nonprofit, community-based organization made up of volunteers.
