HERMISTON – The Hermiston City Council will hold a public hearing and then take action on a proposal that would complete the formation of a local improvement district at the South Hermiston Industrial Park at its meeting today (Monday) at 7 p.m. The process to start the LID began in 2019.
The property owners in the area have been notified by mail how costs are being assessed, which is based on linear frontage on the improvements. After the hearing, the council is scheduled to take action on the resolution.
The council will also discuss and take possible action on implementing the Hermiston 2040 plan, and is also scheduled to vote on a proposal that authorizes the issuance of pension obligation bonds totaling $15,445,054. The bonds allow the city to borrow at a low interest rate and send funds to the Public Employees Retirement Service to offset the coming cost of PERS.
The meeting is at the Hermiston Community Center, 415 S. Highway 395. It’s on Zoom at 862 2614 4112, pass code 203345, and can also be viewed on the city’s YouTube channel.
