PENDLETON – The Pendleton Planning Commission meets today (Thursday) at 7 p.m. A public hearing is planned on granting a conditional use permit for a marijuana retail store at 31 Southwest Nye Avenue. That location is currently a vacant lot.

The applicant for the permit is Mireya Martinez of Wave Design Group in Kennewick. The owner is Bimalpreet Bath of Walla Walla. The plan is to build and operate a 5,000 square foot store if approved.

The site fronts Southwest Nye Avenue and Interstate 84. One driveway entrance and exit on Nye is proposed on the far end of the building.

There will also be a public hearing on a variance requested by Shane and Heather Blagg to build a caretaker’s apartment in their building on Southwest Fourth and Southwest Fifth streets. They intend to relocate Blue Mountain Electric there and the apartment is proposed as a security and public safety precaution.

The meeting in council chambers at Pendleton City Hall is available via Zoom. The meeting ID is 825 6823 2501 and the pass code is pend97801.
