FARM II will have to be scaled down

PENDLETON – Blue Mountain Community College’s FARM II project is beginning to get off the ground and will be put out for bid at a future date. BMCC President Mark Browning said the board has to decide whether it wants the project to be a design-build or general contractor project.
Meanwhile, Browning said people should forget about the renderings they have seen for the proposed facility. FARM II will look different because the amount of money to be spent is different.
“That building now, as you see in those drawings, really gets you into that $17-$18 million range,” he said. “It’s not going to be that. It just won’t.
Browning said the BMCC Board of Education is dedicated to staying within budget.
“We’re very firm,” he said. “This is a $13.5 million dollar project and we’re going to build what we can build for that. We’re going to stay within that budget.”
In addition to classroom space, FARM II will also include an indoor rodeo arena. It will be located to the west of the Pendleton Convention Center.
