WALLA WALLA – Work on South Park Street between Alder and Howard streets is basically complete and will open today (Wednesday) to traffic with temporary striping. Construction traffic control will be in place at the intersection of Howard Street and South Park Street through the winter.
Crews will continue to work on landscape restoration on Park Street, Palouse Street, L Street and Juniper Street through Dec. 20. Work will resume next spring on the south end of Park Street and on Howard Street that includes final striping, landscaping, and tree planting.
Scheduled to be completed in May 2022, the $4 million project replaces failing water and sewer utilities in addition to reconstructing the roadway. Parallel parking and bike lanes will be added to Park Street. The intersection of Park Street and Howard Street will be reconfigured into a t-intersection.
