PENDLETON – The Pendleton Development Commission held a work session this week to explore specific projects as they relate to the commission’s overall goals. One goal is to connect the downtown to the Umatilla River. The Pendleton River Parkway plays a big part in the existing connection, and Public Works Director Bob Patterson said there are plans to make it safer.
Discussions are underway about the current surveillance camera system in use on the parkway.
“It currently operates on radio and that system is 10 years old and in need of replacement,” Patterson said.
In addition to upgrading the security cameras, Patterson said improving the lighting is also on the table.
“We would like taller lights,” Patterson said. “We would like better lighting to broadcast out over the armoring of the levee, just to help with the safety features.”
