PENDLETON – The Pendleton School District Board of Directors meets at 6 p.m. today (Monday). One of the items on the agenda is a letter to school superintendents and boards of education from Gov. Kate Brown on her mask mandate in public schools.

“Many of you have led or represented your school districts for years – long enough to know that districts must follow state law,” she wrote. “There is no ambiguity in Oregon’s mask requirements or the legal authority of Oregon OSHA to enforce those requirements. I am asking for your partnership once again, so that we can set an example for our students of how to set aside differences and work towards a common goal.”

The board will also hear an enrollment report from Superintendent Chris Fritsch. According to September figures, the district has 43 more students than it did last year and 127 more than were enrolled at the same time in the 2015-16 school year.

The board will meet privately at the district office on Northwest 10th Street. People who wish to attend virtually must email rthornburg@pendletonsd.org.
