Juveniles arrested for burglary

News release from Pendleton Police Chief Chuck Byram:
January 15, 2022 at 4:35 p.m., Pendleton Police Department personnel responded to a residence in the 100 block of SE 6th Street after receiving a report from the resident that he located a juvenile relative burglarizing the residence. It was reported at the time that the 15-year-old juvenile suspect stole several items from inside the residence, to include a shotgun and handgun, and was last observed running through backyards of the neighborhood.
It was reported that there were possibly other juveniles with the known juvenile suspect. A Pendleton Police Department patrol officer was in the general vicinity at the time of the call. As he was responding to the residence, he observed a vehicle in the neighborhood that had several male juveniles inside. As the officer turned around on the vehicle, the driver took off at a high rate of speed heading East on SE Byers Avenue.
The vehicle pursuit lasted to the Riverside area, where the vehicle was abandoned and the occupants fled on foot. Pendleton Police Department personnel, with the assistance of the Oregon State Police, Umatilla Tribal Police and Umatilla County Sheriff’s Department set up a perimeter to locate the suspect(s). Officers were able to locate the vehicle involved and two juvenile males were taken into custody.
One of the juveniles taken into custody was the suspect relative in the burglary of the residence. The second juvenile is suspected of being the driver of the vehicle and had a juvenile warrant for his arrest out of Deschutes County. The property from the burglary was recovered and both juveniles were lodged at the Walla Walla juvenile detention facility. Both juveniles face felony charges relating to Burglary II, Robbery II, Theft I and Attempt to Elude Police-Vehicle.
