WALLA WALLA โ A Walla Walla man accused of stealing two American Express cards from a mailbox and using them to purchase more than $1,000 in merchandise from Home Depot has been transferred to the Umatilla County Jail. Dylan L. Cantrell, 19, is being held on two counts of probation violation, failure to appear and providing false information to law enforcement.
Cantrell and Yasmeen E. Dalan, 19, of Walla Walla were arrested Dec. 24, 2021 after a man reported to the Walla Walla County Sheriffโs Office that he found his mailbox had been opened and his mail, including two American Express cards were missing.
In Walla Walla County, Cantrell, along with Dalan, face charges of second-degree burglary, second-degree theft, and two counts of second-degree possessing stolen property. Cantrell pleaded not guilty to these charges on Jan. 4 and waived extradition to Oregon for a warrant out of Umatilla County. Dalan pleaded not guilty on Wednesday. Trials for both Cantrell and Dalan are set for Feb. 23.
According to court documents, after using the credit cards at the Home Depot in College Place, Cantrell and Dalan allegedly tried to use them at Walmart in College Place, but those transactions were declined several times. Due to a joint investigation between the Walla Walla County Sheriffโs Office and the College Place Police Department, Cantrell and Dalan were arrested after law enforcement obtained pictures of both suspects using the stolen credit cards.
