HERMISTON – Hermiston Assistant City Manager Mark Morgan doesn’t hesitate when asked what the city hopes for from the 2022 session of the Oregon Legislature.

“Money,” he said.

One of the main projects the city would like to receive funding for is the proposal to extend Gettman Road from Highway 395 to Highway 207.

“The big benefit of that project is to open up a lot of development property on the south end of the city for residential and commercial development, but also to address the congestion on Highland Avenue in front of the high school,” he said. “We only have two east-west roadways that get you all the way across the city right now because of the railroad that cuts through the city.”

Morgan said the city has worked with its state lawmakers to make sure they understand the importance of the project.
