PENDLETON – The Oregon Legislature holds Legislative Days this week and begins its short session on Feb. 1. Pendleton Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer Cheri Rosenberg says they will fight legislation that isn’t business friendly as always. She also has advice for the lawmakers.

“Just stop,” she said. “Let’s not impose new taxes. Let’s let our businesses figure out what these OSHA rules are before we get new rules. Can we just put a stalemate on something for a little while?”

Rosenberg also worries about the lawmakers meeting virtually instead of in the Capitol. She said that the virtual meetings served to remove the legislators from their constituents.

“Because people couldn’t meet face to face, there were bills just pushed through that, in a face-to-face environment, would not have happened,” she said.
