HERMISTON – Jessica Fawn Sweet, 34, of Hermiston is in Umatilla County Jail facing multiple charges following her arrest Tuesday night. Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston reports that it all began when Sweet was recognized during a traffic stop as having several warrants out for her arrest. She was a passenger in the car that was stopped.

A patrol officer told Sweet she was under arrest. At that point, the officer reported she kicked the driver out of the car and attempted to start the vehicle.

“Officers tried to pull Sweet out of the car and she drove off at a high rate of speed,” an officer reported in the log. “Sweet crossed busy Highway 395 with no lights on. She then crashed the vehicle into a fence at 140 West Beech.”

Sweet then fled on foot. She was arrested later at the Panda Inn.

“She started to act like she had medical conditions,” the log stated. “She was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center by EMS and later lodged at the jail.”

There were five felony warrants out for Sweet’s arrest as well as a failure to appear warrant. Additional charges against her include attempt to elude both in a vehicle and on foot, giving false information to law enforcement, reckless driving, resisting arrest, and third-degree escape. Her bail is set at $172,500.
