Fire Departments: ‘Use caution during cold weather’

EASTERN OREGON – Local fire departments urge people when using portable heaters to use caution. This time of year fire departments respond to devastating house fire caused by portable heaters and unintended candles. The La Grande Fire Department reminds everyone to have a workable carbon monoxide detector and smoke alarms. The National Weather Service has issued below freezing temperatures possibly reaching near zero in some locations.
