WALLA WALLA – As selected by residents’ votes, the city of Walla Walla’s New Year’s Eve community fireworks display will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 31 at Walla Walla Community College. Of the 869 votes received in the survey conducted earlier this month, 520 (59.83 percent) were cast for 8 p.m.
The other options were 9 p.m. and midnight. 167 votes (19.22 percent) were cast for 9 p.m. and 180 votes were cast midnight (20.76 percent).
Western Display Fireworks will produce the pyrotechnics, which are expected to include some of the largest shells ever launched in the Walla Walla Valley. The show, which should last about 15 minutes, is a free, family-friendly event.
This display was originally planned for July 4, 2021, but on June 29, city officials postponed the event due to the extreme heat and drought conditions at the time.
