PENDLETON – The Pendleton City Council has approved a change to its construction manager/general contractor contract for the renovation of Eastern Oregon Regional Airport. Several projects that have been budgeted for the city will be rolled into the agreement.

Pendleton Public Works Director Bob Patterson said the city has budgeted more than $1 million for those projects and have seen prices rise since the budgets were set. It’s believed that by adding the work to the existing contract with LKV Architects and McCormack Construction, the city can hold costs down.

“We get a cost savings in bulk and we’re able to value engineer to stay within that $1,050,000 budget for these items,” he said.

Some of the projects added to the agreement are at city hall, Vert Auditorium, McCune Recreation Center, the Pendleton Police Department campus, and the fire station on Southgate.

“About half of that budget is for HVAC systems,” Patterson said. “The other half is addressing flooring, carpeting, windows, and doors.”
