LA GRANDE – (Information provided by Oregon State Police) On November 15, 2021, at around 4:48 A.M., OSP responded to a crash on Interstate 84 milepost 259 near La Grande. A commercial motor vehicle was traveling eastbound when it failed to negotiate a curve. The CMV rolled onto its left side causing the operator, Eric Thomas (51) of St. Louis, MO., was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased.
OSP was assisted on the scene by Union County Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation.According to Oregon State Police, the crash caused over 40 gallons of diesel to spill, and a HazMat team was called in to do a clean-up. I-84 was closed into Monday afternoon.
