CANYON CITY – Community Counseling Solutions gave a public health update during Wednesday’s Grant County Court meeting. Health Department Manager Jessica Winegar noted that locally, drugs and particularly drug overdoses have become more prevalent within the last few years:
“Let’s just say, when I started at the health department in 2015 I didn’t carry around Narcan, and I do [now]. I have it with me and most of our staff have it because if we come upon somebody [who has overdosed] we could save a life. It wasn’t something you would’ve thought of about ten years ago.”
CCS Director Kimberly Lindsay agreed that local drug activity is increasing.
