MISSION – Election Day for the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation is Nov. 9. All of the Board of Trustee positions as well as the chair of the General Council are up for election. Interim Deputy Executive Director Matthew Johnson said all enrolled members 18 and older are eligible to vote.
With multiple candidates in the race, a candidates’ forum will be held Thursday from 5-7:30 p.m. in Cayuse Hall at Wildhorse Resort & Casino. Johnson said the forum will also be streamed live on CTUIR’s Facebook page.
“The link will be on there and you’ll be able to get to follow along and see the candidates and hear their answers to the questions posed by the moderator,” Johnson said.
It’s a crowded field for the election.
“We have four candidates for chair, three for secretary, three for General Council chair, and then there are other competitive races for the at-large seats as well,” he said.
